"All Ears for a Drink"

This photo was taken in the Southern Kruger one morning. It just reminded me how cautious such large antelope have to be when going for a mundane thing like a 'drink of water'. It took them a few minutes to actually get to the the waters edge. They were constantly on their gaurd. Wildlife photography is a passion of mine, and one item on my bucket list is to be able to do a Wildlife Photography course with Bruna Mentrup-Nortje soon.

  • Thank you Warren and John for your comments.

  • Lovely light. I agree, a bit of contrast would do this wonders

Love the light and the misty background that almost adds to the tension the kudu are feeling.

  • Thank you very much for your comment Bruna. It is much appreciated. And thank you for the tip on the contrast aspect. I realise that there is a lot to learn, and I am already looking at doing your Wildlife Photography Course in June.

Beautiful image!! You have captured such a special moment here and thank you so much for sharing with us.  This image tick most of the blocks when it comes to certain aspects of visual storytelling in photography. ‘Visual Weight’ - one can actually feel the tension here, even though the Kudus are not facing your camera, it forces the viewer to use there ‘Imagination’ – ‘Framing & Aspect Ratio” beautiful light, mood and perfect timing with beautiful natural lines in the different highlights and shadows towards the background – ‘Juxta-pose’ you have placed the three (same species) in a strong triangular position in your frame which adds so much impact for you - ‘Contrast’ you can add about 25% more contrast to your image to separate the three Kudus from your background slightly more.  This is your first post and it is a Feature for you!! Well done! I would love to have you in one of my classes!
