Places To Go

Shot from a Maboneng session with Danie in 2018. Trying to show some movement using a slow shutter speed.

Post-processing was just a crop and improving the constrast.

Looking back at my settings now, I suspect I would've been better off with f/11 or f/13 with ISO 100. But of course, you need to be quick on the draw in the streets :)

Question: Does it bother having the subject right in the middle? I kind-off like the symmetry it creates. If I cropped to have the subject at a proper third (walking into the frame) it would lose the punch of the background.

Focal Length 115mm

ISO 640

Exposure 1/20s

Aperture: f/22

Even before I read your description, I thought the symmetry works perfectly. Great use of movement blurt against the repetitive shapes and then the muted tones adding mood. Feature.
